Horizons Leadership Conference are one-day, regional conferences bringing excellent keynote presentations and providing PD for student council or leadership advisors. The full-day agenda is designed to provide participants with motivation, inspiration and information to make their school a better place to live and learn. This is an opportunity for an advisor to bring some core leadership students and give them a day to look to the horizon and plan what they can do to improve their school and community. More importantly, it is an opportunity to introduce some potential leadership students from your school to a motivating and inspiring conference.
Non CSLA member schools who bring 10 delegates or more will receive a free CSLA membership worth $90. Sessions are also provided for the advisors, and our keynote speakers work with the advisors to give them resources and ideas to expand their leadership horizons as well. The total cost for the conference is $25 per delegate and each delegate gets a lanyard and lunch provided.
The day starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 2:00 p.m., so there is lots of time to get you there and get your students back home in time. An advisor commented that he liked the day because “our athletic kids can get back to school in time for practice.” Another advisor who hosted the conference for the first time commented on “how smoothly the day was run” by her own students.
Host your own: Schools can choose to host their own Horizons conference. The host school is given a structure for the day and students act as MCs, registration personnel and presenters. The conference needs a facility that seats up to 300 students and the ability to use a gym for an hour during the middle of the day. Contact Dave Conlon for more information.
